New release: ZEUS v0.10.0

This release features the ability to renew channel leases, spin up multiple embedded wallets, Nostr Wallet Connect client support, and more.

Today, we're announcing the wide availability of ZEUS v0.10.0, including on the Apple App Store, and Google Play.

This release features the ability to renew channel leases, spin up multiple embedded wallets, Nostr Wallet Connect client support, and more.

Channel renewals

Let's start with the big one. Users will now be able to renew and extend their channel leases from both of our channel services. Additionally, users who open channels to our LSP using their own on-chain funds can upgrade to their channels to guarantee their lifetime, and save a bit fees.

Additionally, users are now informed via push notification or Nostr DMs (depending on their ZEUS Pay Lightning address notification settings) when their channels are 1, 3, and 7 days away from expiring.

We're proud to have developed an open source bLIP spec for the renewal service and we hope others follow suit and implement it in their wallets and service providers. You can read more about the service in our docs.

Multiple embedded wallets

What's better than having a Lightning node in your phone? Being able to spin up as many wallets for it as you want.

v0.10.0 features the ability to spin up as many Embedded LND wallets as you want, to help separate your funds for different use cases. Users can now also easily delete those wallets so that they don't clutter your wallets and connections list when they're no longer needed.

chantools

chantools is a CLI tool for recovering funds from Lightning channel when a user has unfortunately lost their channel state data.

In ZEUS v0.10, we've built in the sometimes needed sweepremoteclosed command, which we've found to be invaluable when users have sync issues or have lost their channel backups.

We expect a few more chantools commands to be added over time.

Nostr Wallet Connect

We've added Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC) as a connection method, allowing you to easily connect to wallets from Alby Hub, Cashu.me, and others.

Note that this is only for accessing NWC wallets within ZEUS (client-side). Ability to access the default built-in ZEUS wallet through other interfaces (server-side) will come in a future release.

Next up

Work on ZEUS v0.10.1 and v0.11.0 is already underway. We're appreciate of everyone who helped alpha test v0.10.0, and we're looking forward to repeating it again with v0.11.0.

What should you expect? We're hoping to launch our next service, one a bit different than the three we've launched so far. We believe it will go a long way in making the ZEUS UX even better for both newbies and expert users. We're also working to lower the barrier to entry to using ZEUS for newcomers even further. This release has the potential to be nuts.

It's a thrilling time to be building in this space. Bitcoin is in the global spotlight. Lightning is thriving. ZEUS is growing. We're grateful for all the support we've received so far, thrilled by the traction we're seeing, and excited by what lies ahead.
