New release: ZEUS v0.9.1
ZEUS v0.9.1

We're proud to announce the wide availability of ZEUS v0.9.1, including on the Apple App Store, and Google Play.

This release features enhancements and new functionality including inbound routing fees, improved receiver privacy, and more.

Inbound channel fees

Routing node operators now have the option to set inbound routing fees for their channels. These fees can incentivize or de-incentivize certain channels being used, allowing for users to have more granular control of their liquidity and prevent "outbound drains" which leave channels without adequate outbound capacity.

Read more about inbound channel fees here.

Note: Inbound routing fees are currently only available in remote LND interfaces, versions v0.18.0-beta and higher

Blinded paths for BOLT 11

In a typical BOLT 11 invoice, the receiver's node's public key is embedded in the invoice for the sender to best calculate a route on how to reach them. At ZEUS, we've helped users preserve their receiver privacy by giving users the options to use wrapped invoices with our LSP.

Blinded paths allow receivers to conceal their public key and specify an encrypted path of hops that a payment to their node must take. ZEUS users can use opt into using them today by hitting the Blinded paths toggle on the Receive view when the LSP is disabled.

Default BOLT 11 invoices VS BOLT 11 invoices with blinded paths

Read more about blinded paths here.

Note: BOLT 11 Blinded paths are currently only available in LND interfaces, versions v0.18.3-beta and higher. Blinded paths are also available with BOLT 12 offers if using a remote Core Lightning interface, however the two are incompatible at present.

Linked contacts showing in Channel view

Have a channel open with a friend? Have that user in your ZEUS contact book? Well now, if you have that friend's node identified in their contact entry, a link to their contact will appear on all the channels that you have with them!

This can be a super helpful way to send a friend a message if you're having issues with your channel, or send them a quick tip to show your appreciation.

Rescans for external wallets

In v0.9.0 we introduced experimental functionality to import external accounts from hardware wallets, with the caveat that we couldn't scan for existing funds. That changes today with the ability to set the birthday in blocks of an external wallet, so that your ZEUS wallet can scan for past events.

This added functionality makes the experience of crafting on-chain transactions, and opening channels from wallets such as the Coldcard Q, Seedsigner, and Foundation Passport, that much smoother.

Note: rescans for external accounts are only available for Embedded LND wallets. We plan to submit a pull request to the main LND repo, to have this support available for remote LND users, soon.

Always forward

As always, there's more work to do! For Q4 we're focusing on launching two new LSP services and looking into more Nostr integrations in the wallet. We're hoping to share more updates soon.

Thanks for your continued support.
