ZEUS Pay lightning address fees slashed to zero

Last October, we announced ZEUS Pay: our first-of-their-kind mobile self-custodial lightning addresses that enabled asynchronous payments on our new "node in the phone" wallets. These addresses have facilitated over half a million total payments, with a total volume of hundreds of millions of satoshis (ie. multiple full bitcoins).

Today, we're making the following changes to the service:

  • All payments will incur no fee for the receiver (previously 2.5-10% depending on amount)
  • The minimum amount receivable has been lowered to 1 satoshi (previously 10 satoshis)

With these changes lies a new caveat: users must have a zero-fee route from our LSP node, Olympus by ZEUS, to their node. The most straightforward way to achieve this is with a direct channel to our node. We believe that this tradeoff will be acceptable for most users, as they are already using ZEUS Pay in tandem with our LSP.

We're excited to roll out these changes, which we believe will enable value for value content creators to earn more for their labor, and ultimately offer up a better user experience.

Happy zapping.
